E-learning for Strengthening for Higher Education Trainees Graduated
Ethiopian Civil Service University (ECSU) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MOE), and in partnership with MasterCard Foundation, Arizona State University (ASU) gave training for 48 ECSU academic staff and graduated on December15, 2023. The training is focused on online teaching training for e-learning project and strengthening Higher Education System through utilization of digital technology.
At the opening of the ceremony Dr. Lemma Gudissa, Vice President for Academic Affairs, congratulated all the trainees for their successful completion of the training. He said, ‘This is not only online teaching training; we have gained pedagogical knowledge and scale up our digital education.’
To improve the quality of education and its accessibility, digitalized and online teaching-learning platform is one of the Reform Strategies of the MoE as well as the ECSU. Today’s graduates will be our coordinator for the online teaching which is applied in our university. So, the online teaching projects being given in different platforms (Graduate Class Trainees (GCT), Master Class Training of Trainers (MCToT), and the Master Class- Foundations for Excellence in Teaching Online are timely training for ECSU academic staff he added.
Finally he thanked Ministry of Education (MoE), the Arizona State University and others who are initiating, supporting and implementing the essential projects.
The objectives of the project is building the capacity of the academic staff by providing Master class training which focusses on online learning facilitators, Graduate certificate training which focuses on instructional design principle to develop online courses and Online course development. Professor Elisabeth and David from the Arizona State University and Mr. Yared from the e-SHE Project Office attended the program.
